Factors Affecting Rate & Collision Theory

2 min read · part of the full Exam Guide

Collision theory

  • Reactions happen only when particles collide with enough energy: at least the activation energy
  • The rate depends on the frequency of collisions (how many per second) and the energy of the collisions
  • Anything that makes collisions more frequent, or more energetic, increases the rate
